Naomi has loved music and performing for as long as she can remember. Since her first piano lessons at the age of 7, she was hooked! Decades later and Naomi's passion for music remains. She now has a Music BA (Hons) from Southampton University and a PGCE in Secondary Music education from Greenwich University in collaboration with Trinity College of Music.
Since gaining her qualifications Naomi has acquired nearly 2 decades of teaching experience in schools, in a variety of roles including as a KS3 and KS4 curriculum teacher and subject lead, as well as a peripatetic tutor and ensemble director with Hampshire Music Service, Surrey Music Hub, and on a self-employed basis.
Naomi offers indiviual music lessons in Lindford on flute, piano and music theory, as well as beginner clarinet and alto saxophone. Her pupils range from young beginners, to “rusty returners”, to advanced musicians.
As a classically trained flautist, Naomi also provides beautiful live music for special events, including weddings, christenings/naming ceremonies, and funerals, as well as regular entertainment at a range of venues and occassions. Naomi prides herself on being able to make every performance unique and tailored to the specific requirement of the client.
Naomi teaches from her dedicated music room in her home in Lindford, Hampshire. Lessons are delivered in a fun and relaxed way, which engages pupils of any age.
Lessons are offered on a weekly basis on weekday evenings, or fortnightly on Sunday mornings. Once a commitment has been made, the pupil (or their parents if pupils are under 18) will be asked to agree to and sign Naomi’s terms and conditions.
Naomi is also available for peripatetic music tuition and has enhanced DBS clearance which can be viewed on the DBS Update Service.
Naturally Naomi has a working knowledge of the current music examination syllabuses and will support her pupils with thorough exam preparation in their lessons, but she is equally happy to teach students who would just like to play for pleasure and prefer not to take graded examinations. In both situations, repertoire is selected together with the pupil in order make sure enjoyment and progress are achieved in equal measure.
Private Tuition
Private lessons are charged at £18 for half an hour, £27 for 45 minutes or £35 for an hour.
A free trial lesson is offered before a new pupil commits to lessons.
24 hours notice is required for cancelling a lesson and lessons cancelled after this point will still be charged for at Naomi’s discretion.
Rates are reviewed annually.
Peripatetic Tuition
Peripatetic lessons are charged at £27 - £40 per hour depending on type and level of tuition provided.

Contemporary selection
Examples of music that would be perfect in the background of any event. This repertoire also forms my "in-between grades" teaching material.
My Favourites
This selection of pieces are some of my favourites to play at the moment.
"My daughter always looks forward to her flute lessons with Naomi. In just six months Erin has gained confidence and improved immensly, to the point she obtained a merit in her grade 2 exam. She always finds Naomi's lesson fun, enjoyable and very rewarding. I don't have to nag Erin to practise as Naomi gives her such fun pieces to play. I highly recommend her."
Parent
"I have been playing the flute with Naomi for the best part of three years. Thanks to Naomi, I have been able to carry on with my love for music. Naomi is very encouraging and gives me loads of support during my lessons. She also has a funny side, allowing us to have a lot of fun when we play together. I really enjoy my lessons."
Pupil (age 11)
"Naomi provides challenge appropriate to [my sons] ability while maintaining a light hearted approach that keeps lessons fun. She fully embraces pieces that our children have sourced themselves, which has increased their enjoyment of playing and their motivation to learn and improve."
Parents
"I have been coming to Naomi for flute lessons for just one term and am loving it! Naomi is a gentle, patient teacher yet constantly encourages and challenges you to improve. I feel that I have achieved far more in one term than I would ever have expected."
Adult Pupil
"Having worked with Naomi for many years I have found her to be an excellent music educator. She has an engaging and supportive manor with her students and her planning and preparation are meticulous."
Head of Music, Henry Cort Community College (2007-2016)
"I'd like to say a big "Thank you" to Naomi, for all her great teaching and encouragement to help my son achieve his Music Theory exam result. She has been fab, going above and beyond with the extra tuition over half term."
